You have to remove the top cover for this access. > [!CAUTION] > Do not remove the circuit board from the chassis. Doing so will break the thermal seal on the processor, possibly resulting in damage to the unit and voiding the warranty. To gain switch access: 1. Disconnect power and all external cables. 2. Remove the 16 screws on the top of the unit with a Phillips screwdriver. ![](https://cdn.document360.io/57e3cd80-d493-453c-9672-ad1b043dadc3/Images/Documentation/5ca01ecb-d5ef-465a-9632-e94a91ad957b-image.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T18%3A56%3A40Z&se=2026-11-07T19%3A56%3A40Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=HYQeo9pft%2BPZQ9pXBpBX%2FF27vQcU7qaf%2BDqlKaC4C4c%3D) 3. Pull the lid up and away from the chassis. 4. Find the switch bank closest to the composite connector: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/57e3cd80-d493-453c-9672-ad1b043dadc3/Images/Documentation/68559e58-7141-4144-8867-e6e7b6cd6588-image.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T18%3A56%3A40Z&se=2026-11-07T19%3A56%3A40Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=HYQeo9pft%2BPZQ9pXBpBX%2FF27vQcU7qaf%2BDqlKaC4C4c%3D) 5. Looking closely at the mainboard of the Node, you can see for Encoder, the orientation of the switches is to be set to 1: ON, 2: OFF, 3: ON. For Decoder, the orientation is to be set to 1: OFF, 2: ON, 3: OFF. In the below example, the MPX Node is set to Encoder: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/57e3cd80-d493-453c-9672-ad1b043dadc3/Images/Documentation/a50e68c0-5b24-4d21-8db1-76b1f482db7d-image.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T18%3A56%3A40Z&se=2026-11-07T19%3A56%3A40Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=HYQeo9pft%2BPZQ9pXBpBX%2FF27vQcU7qaf%2BDqlKaC4C4c%3D) 6. We recommend using a small flat screwdriver to adjust the switches to the desired position. 7. Re-attached the lid to the top of the unit with the 16 screws. ### Check Your Work After powering on the unit, it should say **ENCODER** on the upper left of the OLED if you set it to Encoder: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/57e3cd80-d493-453c-9672-ad1b043dadc3/Images/Documentation/7993aef5-2626-4e1f-b2dd-d408aa726e35-image.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T18%3A56%3A40Z&se=2026-11-07T19%3A56%3A40Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=HYQeo9pft%2BPZQ9pXBpBX%2FF27vQcU7qaf%2BDqlKaC4C4c%3D) If the MPX Node is set to Decoder, you will see **DECODER** on the OLED: ![](https://cdn.document360.io/57e3cd80-d493-453c-9672-ad1b043dadc3/Images/Documentation/7ed4fb53-bba8-453c-a66c-4f0c0a5b3803-image.png?sv=2026-02-06&spr=https&st=2026-11-07T18%3A56%3A40Z&se=2026-11-07T19%3A56%3A40Z&sr=c&sp=r&sig=HYQeo9pft%2BPZQ9pXBpBX%2FF27vQcU7qaf%2BDqlKaC4C4c%3D) ### Let us know how we can help If you have further questions on this topic or have ideas about improving this document, please [contact us](https://www.telosalliance.com/support-request).
