# Creating a permanent password for Portainer

## Scope

By default, Portainer gets it's password from the VIP-Setup utility. This is great for initial configuration, but you might want to set a more permanent password.

## Setting the password

1. On the left side menu, go to Users
2. On the bottom of the Users page, you will see a link to the admin account. Click on *admin*

3. The next page will allow you the set a new admin password for Portainer.
