As a partner, Telos is expected to have enough knowledge to assist our mutual clients in setting up a CrewCom system and interfacing it with Infinity. The CrewCom manuals are quite good and can be found online. They offer Radio Packs (wireless beltpacks) with 2 or 4 receive channels each. Systems can be configured with between two and hundreds of unique conference channels. Systems with 2 or 4 independent conferences use a single CrewCom central control unit. Multiple CCUs can be used in a single system to build a system with many unique I/O channels. This brief setup guide describes how to get around the CrewCom system to be sure that their 4-wire I/O is configured. This guide is for small CrewCom systems with 2 or 4 unique RF channels and 4-wire interfaces. (Remember that an Infinity Virtual Panel is a 4-wire interface.) The major parts of a CrewCom system: 1. The CU is the control unit 1. CCU-22 supports 2 x 2 wire and 2 x 4-wire connections. 2 conferences. 2. CCU-4 supports 4 x 2 wire and 4 x 4-wire connections. 4 conferences. 3. CCU-22 supports 8 x 4-wire conferences, 8 conferences. 4. Has a front panel LCD screen that can be used to configure the system 2. The Radio Transceiver (RT) 1. Contains radio transmitter, receiver, and antennas to communicate with Radio Packs (RP) 2. Multiple RTs can be used to cover any size area. 3. RTs connect to CCU using CrewNet, a proprietary protocol. 4. RTs are connected to the CCU using the CrewNet port 1. RTs can be connected in a daisy chain or using a CrewNet hub. 2. CrewNet wiring uses Cat5e cable (or better). 3. An RT can be powered via CrewNet or an external 48VDC supply 3. Radio Pack (RP) 1. Portable wirelsss device that a user carries. 2. Enables full duplex communications 3. RPs can have 2 or 4 volume/talk button configurations 4. A headset is required for each RP CrewCom CCU rear panels are shown below. This is to provide a reference to what clients will be looking at to make connections to the CrewCom intercom.
