Those licenses might control how many Icecast or SHOUTcast MP3 encoders you can add. The following features are included with each Program input - 4 - AAC encoders - 4 - xHE AAC encoders - 4 - Adaptive AAC encoders (HLS) - 4 - MP3 Encoders - 4 - Metadata2 Sources - 4 - SHOUTcast or Icecast Stream monitors (Z/IP Stream R/20 only) > Keep in mind that the “base” Z/IPStream R/20 comes standard with two program inputs, so on those units the numbers would be doubled) ## Some further explanation Some people have asked why these are licensed at all. The answer is that Telos Alliance only uses fully licensed encoders and decoders directly from [Fraunhofer](https://www.fraunhofer.de/en.html) which has a cost associated with it. These licenses allow us to track and report their usage to Fraunhofer.
