License iQs, VIP, and other CodeMeter Products

IQs is now only available as a hardware solution on the Telos AP-1000 appliance.  iQs as a docker container was replaced with Altus, which does not use Code Meter licensing.

Scope

This document is intended to help customers who have purchased iQs or other CodeMeter products that require a "WiBU request file" to be downloaded.

Description

iQs (using customer hardware) and other products that either use a CodeMeter or MASI License server for copy protection, use a method of licensing that requires you to download a "request" file for the product you wish to license, and then upload an "update" file that you receive from the Telos Activations team.

This document outlines how to do this for new products, and how to add on to existing products.

How it works

One Product + Multiple Instances = One Request

There are products, and there are instances. A product can have multiple instances. For example, you can have 4 instances of the iQs base product, giving you 4, virtual mixers.

To license multiple instances of a product, a single request file is sufficient.

If you have purchased 4, iQs base licenses, you will generate a single request file. The activations team at Telos will then put all 4 of your iQs instances into a single update file. When this file is uploaded to your license server, then you will have access to all those instances.

Multiple Products = One Request Per Product

If you have purchased multiple products, then you will need to generate a license request for each product. For example, "iQs base license" and "iQs additional fader" would be considered different products. In this case, you will generate 2 requests - one for the base license, and one for the additional fader license.

Non-Additive Licensing

The licensing mechanism that is used for these products is non-additive, meaning that if you choose to purchase and apply additional licenses to your existing system, you will need to provide the Telos Activations team with (1) the serial numbers of your existing instances, and (2) the serial numbers for your new instances.

For example, Joe purchased 2, iQs base licenses and has been using them for a year now. He decides to purchase 2 more iQs base licenses and put them all on the same license server, bringing his total to 4 iQs base products. He must email all 4 of his serial numbers (old and new) with a new, single request file to Telos Activations. After this, he will upload the update file that Activations provides him and be licensed for 4, iQs base license instances.
