Ipsos Watermarking for Omnia.9 & E9s

Prev Next

Ipsos' Watermarking module allows for a broadcast feed to be embedded with

metadata to enable identification primarily for market research and audience

measurement purposes.

The Ipsos module has been integrated into Omnia.9 (hardware) and Omnia E9s (software)

Two things are required to enable this capability:

  • You must purchase a feature license from Telos

  • You must obtain separate licensing directly from Ipsos. Ipsos license will provide Token Files, which you can then enter into your Omnia.

This help document will guide you through what is involved in adding this option to your Omnia audio processor.

Note that one Telos license and one Ipsos token is required per each uniquely watermarked program channel.

Omnia.9

For Omnia.9 hardware, you must first install version 3.32.44 (or higher), available from the Omnia.9 product page https://www.telosalliance.com/radio-processing/radio-processors/omnia9

Ipsos watermarking for the Omnia.9 can be ordered from Telos or your Omnia dealer using part #3001-00449-000.

As with other software options for the 9,  we will need the MAC address of the unit you want to update in order to generate a key. (The MAC address is shown in the System / System Configuration / Upgrades screen)

Once you have a license key,  Navigate to:

Home -> System -> System Configuration -> Upgrades

via the front panel or the remote, enter each code in the correct slot and click on the "Apply Config" button, then reboot your unit..

Once you have obtained the Token file from Ipsos, proceed to the System/IO Options/Ipsos page, select “Upload Token”. Select which processing channel you wish to apply it to, and be certain to Enable the feature.

Omnia Enterprise 9s

Omnia Enterprise 9s (E9s) software is a similar process. Ipsos watermarking is supported in version 3.32.25 or higher. Ipsos watermarking for the Omnia.E9s can be ordered from Telos or your Omnia dealer using part #3001-00428-000.

Additionally, a special “Ipsos-only” version of Omnia Enterprise 9s can be obtained.  This is useful for customers who need watermarking, but don’t require audio processing. This is a complete version of Omnia E9s, but with processing features disabled.  This allows a user to install E9s, use it strictly for watermarking, but enable processing features at a later date simply through licencing.  Contact Telos or your Omnia dealer for more information.

First, use the Config Application to enable the option for any station as required so that it appears in the NfRemote UI:

The Telos Alliance Ipsos license is delivered as a Key9 license code. Enter this code via NfRemote, under Common > Licensing > Overview, and click Add License:

NOTE: Key9 licenses require your Omnia E9s license to be able to contact the Telos license server over the internet. There are options for a proxy server or on-prem license server, or alternatively E9s can be licensed using CodeMeter. Contact Telos support for any of these options if needed.

Once licensed, there is a license entry showing expiration date (if applicable) added as a new Key9 license entry under Common > Licensing > License X:

Next, add the Ipsos license token that you have received directly from Ipsos. Navigate to the respective Station >Overview > Ipsos, and click on Upload Token. Select the token file in the Windows Open File dialog and click Open.

Lastly, select the correct Station ID from the dropdown menu, which should now be available, and Enable the encoder.

Notes from Ipsos:

Ipsos supplies perpetual licenses per feed via a one-off buy-out fee. There are no annual

renewals; once issued, licenses remain valid.

Each license allows for a uniquely identifiable source. The number of licenses

should equal the number of uniquely watermarked audio feeds you need. Feeds

can be rolled up to a single station if you only need station-level reporting. To

enable platform-level attribution (e.g. FM vs DAB vs stream), each platform must

carry a unique watermark and therefore needs its own feed license.
