The Switches

The Master and Expansion rack-mounted panels use different paddles than the Desktop Station units.

Desktop Stations use part number 1453-00283 shown here:

All rack-mounted panels use part number 1453-00230 shown here:

For a brief period in early 2025, rack-mounted panels also used the 1453-00283 paddle.  While these paddles worked, they produced a less comfortable ‘feel’ than the original paddles that were used.  In July of 2025, the original paddle (1453-00230) was again used in production of the rack-mounted panels.

Removing a Switch

The Desktop Panel paddle (1453-00283) can simply be pried out of the panel using your finger.

A small flat-headed screwdriver is required to remove the 1453-00230 switch. The process is illustrated here:

Be careful not to scratch the surface of the panel.

It should pop out with slight effort.

Installing a Switch

The Desktop Panel paddle (1453-00283) can be pressed into the panel with gentle force.

The current rack-mounted unit switch (1453-00230) requires a little more effort. You will notice two pushable tabs on either side of the intercom display after removing a paddle switch.

With the new switch, push the non-tabbed side of the switch into the left side of the display first. Then gently push the right side into the panel, locking the new paddle switch in place.
