The Omnia XII front-panel touchscreen provides controls, and metering for configuring and operating Omnia XII. Some functions, including input, output, and composite MPX configuration, can also be accessed remotely through the Omnia XII web UI.

The Omnia XII logo in the upper left corner contains the touchscreen menu list for access to controls and metering.

Omnia Touchscreen Header

The top of the touchscreen displays these items regardless of the selected menu.

  • In: Displays separate left and right input meters

  • Out: Displays stereo output meter

  • MPX: Displays stereo composite output meter

  • Current Preset: Displays the currently selected preset

  • Headphone: Adjusts the headphone output level

Omnia Touchscreen Main Area

The main area of the touchscreen displays the page associated with the selected menu.

Home Menu

This Home menu displays the default screen after the unit completes bootup. The main area includes a metering information.

Inputs Menu

This Input menu provides controls for assigning and configuring audio sources, including the Preferred Mix, Fallback Mix, Failover, and Patch Return.

Note: Most Input controls are also accessible through the Omnia XII web UI. The touchscreen Inputs menu does not provide the web UI’s AoIP, HLS+, or Playout pages.

Input Page

This page provides controls for input paths that receive audio from physical inputs or internal sources. The selected input feeds the Omnia XII processing chain, which then drives the configured outputs.

Internal input paths include:

  • Analog: Audio fed from the back-panel Analog Left and Analog Right inputs

  • AES 1, AES 2 and AES 3: Audio fed from the respective back panel AES inputs

  • AoIP 1 and AoIP 2: Audio received from configured Livewire+/AES67 network stream, via back-panel NET 1.

  • Playout: Audio (such as emergency audio, backup audio), fed from internal playout location.

  • HLS+ (HTTP Live Streaming): Audio fed via the Omnia XII Ethernet.

Each path provides these controls:

  • Invert L: Inverts the left channel signal. Default is OFF.

  • Invert R: Inverts the right channel signal. Default is OFF.

  • Stereo Mode: Selects the desired mode (Stereo , Mono L, Mono R, Mono Sum, Swap, or Mvx). The default is Stereo.

  • Right Trim: Lets you adjust the right channel so that it matches the left channel, from -20 to 20 dB. Default is 0 dB.

Preferred Mix Page

This page lets you configure the back-panel connection that supports your primary audio sources. This is your main input source.

This page includes the same input paths as the Input page.

Each path provides these controls

  • Level: Sets the input level of the back-panel connection that is participating in the Preferred Mix (so that the peak-reading IN bar graph meters read just into the yellow, about -15 to -12 dBFS). Faders that are not part of the Preferred Mix should be set to OFF. The default is 0 dB.

  • Fade Time: Sets the fade time of the back-panel connection participating in the mix. 0 to 10 seconds, in .5 second steps. Default is 0 seconds.

Fallback Mix Page

This page lets you configure the back-panel connection that supports your backup audio sources. This is your secondary input source.

This page includes the same input paths as the Input page.

Each path provides these controls

  • Level: Sets the input level of the back-panel connection that is participating in the Fallback Mix (so that the peak-reading IN bar graph meters read just into the yellow, about -15 to -12 dBFS). Faders that are not part of the Fallback Mix should be set to OFF. The default is 0 dB.

  • Fade Time: Sets the fade time of the back-panel connection participating in the mix. 0 to 10 seconds, in .5 second steps. Default is 0 seconds.

Failover Page

This page provides controls for configuring how the Omnia XII switches to your backup system audio (fallback mix) when the preferred mix is not detected.

Input Mode: Sets which mix is used when a failover occurs.

  • Preferred Only: When a failover occurs, the Preferred Mix remains in use. This is the default Input mode.

  • Fallback Only: When a failover occurs, the Fallback Mix remains in use.

  • Failover: When a failover occurs, the system switches from the Preferred Mix to the Fallback Mix.

Trigger Time: Sets the amount of time that will elapse after the failure of audio on the preferred mix before the unit switches to the fallback mix. For instance, if time is set for 5 seconds and the primary audio source fails, five seconds later the unit will switch to the secondary audio input if that input is active. The range is 1 to 30 seconds, in .25 second steps

Return Time: Sets the amount of time for the fallback mix to continue after the preferred mix is restored and the unit switches back to the preferred mix. The range is 0 to 10 seconds, in .1 second steps

Detect Level: Sets the absolute silence threshold in dB for the main silence detector. Audio falling below this level is treated as dead air. The range is -70 to 0 dB in 1 dB steps.

Detect Relative Level: Controls the differential threshold between your operational audio channel levels. It protects against stereo balance and phase protection or side-channel integrity failover. The range is -60 to 0 dB, in 1 dB steps.

Patch Return Page

Patch Mode: Enables or disables the use of the patch return for watermarking. The Patch Return acts as a physical or virtual loop insert point. It sits between the output of the bass clipper (after the MB limiters) and the backend (that is, the FM clipper). The patch point lets you insert external compliance equipment or local hardware into the feed without disrupting your upstream failover configuration. Default is OFF.

Patch Return Source: Sets the patch point source/destination to the exact physical output port where you plugged in the Voltair input cable (for example AES 1). Default is AES 1.

Patch Gain: Sets the level of the patch point. Range is -20 to 20 dB, in .5 dB steps. Default is 0 dB.

Outputs Menu

This menu provides controls to assign audio sources to the Omnia XII output connections and configure the settings for each output in use. Output connections include the back-panel analog and AES outputs, front-panel headphone output, and AoIP outputs.

Note: Most Outputs controls are also accessible through the Omnia XII web UI. The touchscreen Outputs menu does not provide the web UI’s Program Delay and AoIP Senders pages

Back Panel Page

This page provides controls for analog and AES/EBU digital output paths, and the headphone jack.

  • Analog: Audio fed to the back-panel Analog Left and Analog Right outputs

  • AES 1, AES 2 and AES 3: Audio fed to the respective back-panel AES inputs

  • Headphone:

Each path provides these controls:

  • Source: For headphone output, selecting Monitor out for the source gives you the use of the Patch points IN setting for the processing chain. Otherwise, you can select FM or HD output, the Patch output, or create a calibration tone.

  • Level: Sets the output level of the back-panel output connection or front panel headphone connection.

  • Right Trim: Lets you adjust the right channel so that it matches the left channel, from -20 to 20 dB. Default is 0 dB.

AoIP Page

This page provides controls for AoIP output (AoIP 1, AoIP 2, and AoIP 3), via the back-panel NET 1 connector.

Each path provides these controls:

  • Source: You can select FM or HD output, the Patch output, or create a calibration tone.

  • Level: Sets the output level of the back-panel NET 1 connection.

  • Right Trim: Lets you adjust the right channel so that it matches the left channel, from -20 to 20 dB. Default is 0 dB.

MPX Menu Page

This menu provides controls for MPX composite outputs.

Note: Most MPX controls are also accessible through the Omnia XII web UI. The touchscreen MPX menu does not include the web UI’s RDS Gen, RDS Mod, μMPX Sender, or MPX Sender pages.

Stereo Gen

This section lets you configure the Omnia XII stereo generator, which combines separate left and right audio channels into a single composite multiple (MPX) signal that an FM transmitter can broadcast over the air

  • MPX/SCA 1 Input Gain: Sets the level of external sub-carriers fed directly into the main digital composite output or switch to alternate composite feeds inside the unit. Range is 0-2. Default is 0.

  • MPX/SCA 2 Input Gain: Sets the level of external sub-carriers fed directly into the main digital composite output or switch to alternate composite feeds inside the unit.

  • Pilot: Sets the 19 kHz pilot injection level up to 12.0%, in 0.1% steps, relative to 100% modulation. To defeat the pilot, adjust the control to 0 and the pilot will be off. Default setting is 0%.

  • Modulation: Sets how intensely the audio and data signals push the transmitters RF carrier deviation (where 100% modulation typically equals ± 75 kHz deviation). Range is 0-150%. Default is 100%

Outputs (Composite)

This section provides Function and Level controls for each back-panel Composite output.

Function: Sets the desired function (MPX, 19k Pilot, MPX In 1, MPX In 2).

Level: Sets the output level, from 0 to 10 volts. Default is 4 V.

Presets Menu

This menu provides access to factory and user presets. The selected preset displays in the top area preset box.

Note: The Presets factory and user selection controls are also accessible through the Omnia XII web UI. The touchscreen Presets menu does not provide the web UI’s Quick Tweak and Expanded pages.

Network Menu

This menu provides networking controls for the Omnia XII. This includes controls that are required to initially set up the unit for remote control.

  • NET 1, NET 2, and NET 3: Accesses networking controls for each network connection. Settings include Mode, IP Address, Net Mask, and Gateway.

  • DNS: Lets you add or delete DNS servers.

  • Host Name: Lets you change the host name in use.

Admin Menu

This menu provides tabs to access administrative controls and display system information.

Display Page

This page lets you set the display Sleep mode and brightness level.

  • Time out (5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 12 hours): Sets the inactivity timeout before the touchscreen enters sleep mode.

  • Brightness (0 to 100): Sets the touchscreen brightness level.

Security Page

This page provides Front Panel Password controls to require a password to access front panel touchscreen controls.

System Page

This page displays system information, including software version and build date, and provides a Reboot control.
