Updating PDM II Firmware

Updating PDM II Firmware

If at all possible, a PDM II unit's firmware should be updated using the web UI. However, in rare circumstances, and only if instructed by Support, you may need to update the unit using a microSD card.

Web Update Installation

To install a web update package on system running 0.6.0 or later:

  • Open the unit's web interface and click on the "UTILS" tab

  • Click "Choose File", choose the package file, and click "OK"

  • Click "Install package on Bank X" (where "X" is "0" or "1")

  • When the installation is done, click the link to return to the summary page

  • Click the "Reboot from Bank X" button

Wait for the unit to reboot; the page should automatically reload.

microSD Card Installation

To install from the microSD card onto any system:

  • Get a suitable tool for burning an image onto an SD card (suggestion: Etcher)

  • Burn the img file onto a microSD card

  • Power the unit off

  • Install the microSD card into the unit (see below)

  • Plug the unit in and wait for the LCD to show "PDM is in Bypass" with the (likely incorrect) time

  • Power the unit off

  • Remove the microSD card (if you don't, then every time the unit is restarted it will reset to factory defaults)

  • Power the unit back up

Note that, each time the unit powers up and boots from a microSD card, the settings will be restored to their factory defaults.

Accessing the microSD card carrier

The microSD card fits into a card housing on the mainboard. Looking over the front panel into the unit, the housing is between the power supply and the audio card:

Be careful with this! To open, gently slide it to the left and lift the left edge. To close, swing it down while pushing it gently to the left, and then when it's flush with the mainboard slide it to the right.
