Hardware
Infinity VIP is a 1RU product intended to be permanently installed in a standard 19-inch equipment rack and secured with four standard rack screws. Fan cooling is provided with air intakes and exhausts located on the side of the unit just before the front panel. It is recommended to leave 1RU of empty space above and below the unit.
Note - During boot-up, the fans run at full speed and can be quite loud. Although they will slow down once boot-up is complete, the hardware is designed to be installed in a location where fan noise will not be an issue.
Important - Please visit User Warnings and Cautions for important information on proper grounding and other items pertaining to electrical safety.
Rear panel connections include:
Dual redundant 120V - 240V, 50/60Hz power supplies (A)
RS-232 serial port (B)
IPMI control port (C) – Intelligent Platform Management Interface
USB ports (D)
AoIP (NET 1) network interface (E)
WAN (NET 2) network interface (F)
VGA display port (G)
Powering On
Connect a USB keyboard and mouse and a VGA monitor to Infinity VIP per the diagram above.
There is no external on/off switch on the chassis; connecting the AC power will begin the boot process which takes approximately 60 seconds. During this time, Linux will go through its normal Ubuntu-Linux boot sequence displayed on the VGA monitor.
Two power supplies are provided for redundancy. Ideally, each power supply will be connected to separate circuits within the facility so that if one circuit or supply fails, the unit will keep running without interruption.
Note - Connecting only one supply triggers a power error state which causes the front panel “Info” LED to illuminate. If power cannot be provided to both supplies, completely removing one supply from the unit will eliminate the alarm condition.
