Current I/O Config: Shows the currently selected I/O configuration.

Floppy Disk Icon: When hovered over, displays custom presets and their commands:

  • Save As: Opens a dialog for saving a user preset. Enter a custom name in the Preset Name field and any relevant notes in the Notes field.

  • Import: Lets you navigate to and import a user preset previously exported from an Omnia XII system.

  • Export: Exports the user preset as a .json file to the download folder configured on your computer.

  • Trash Can: Opens a Delete dialog for deleting the user preset.

Monitor

  • Drop-down menu: Selects the point in the Omnia XII signal path used for monitoring. Options include:

    • FM Output: The fully processed, final audio signal designated for the FM transmitter analog air-chain. It includes final multiband limiting, pre-emphasis, and the effects of the FM clipper.

    • HD Output: The final processed audio signal meant for the digital HD Radio/DAB or streaming air-chain. Because digital codecs do not use pre-emphasis and are highly sensitive to clipping distortion, this path bypasses the FM pre-emphasis and final clipper, routing instead through the dedicated HD final limiter.

    • PreProc Out: The raw audio directly after initial input gain stages, and before any core leveling or automatic gain control occurs. Because it strips away the processing, monitoring this point acts as an operational bypass control to evaluate the untouched input source audio.

    • WBAGC Out: Audio tapped immediately after the Wideband Automatic Gain Control stage. This is the first level-leveling stage that smoothly rides long-term input variations before splitting the audio into separate frequency bands

    • MBAGC Out: The collective, blended output of the five-band Multiband Automatic Gain Control. This lets you hear the combined effect of all five frequency compressors balancing out the overall texture and spectral consistency of the program material before it enters the final peak limiters

    • MBAGC Out B1: This option taps exclusively Band 1, which handles the lowest frequencies (Sub-Bass / Heavy Bass).

    • MBAGC Out B2: This option taps exclusively Band 2, which governs the Mid-Bass / Lower Midrange frequencies.

    • MBAGC Out B3: This option taps exclusively Band 3, which governs the critical Midrange frequencies (where human speech and primary vocal presence reside).

  • Level fader: Adjusts the Monitor level. Click and drag the fader to the left to decrease the level or to the right to increase it.

  • Level field: Sets the Monitor level. Click the field, enter a value, and press Enter.

    • Save RDS: Saves the Basic RDS settings.

    • Station ID

      • PI (Program ID): Sets the program identification number.

      • PS Mode: Selects the Program Service name display mode:

        • Static: Displays a fixed PS name entered in the PS field.

        • Dynamic Mode 0: Scrolls the text entered in the DPS field eight characters at a time.

        • Dynamic Mode 1: Scrolls the text entered in the DPS field one character at a time.

      • PS (name): When PS Mode is set to Static, use this field to type in the Desiree PS (Program Service) name.

      • DPS (Scrolling Program Service name): When PS Mode is set to a Dynamic mode, sets the text that scrolls as the Program Service name.

      • Speed (sec): Sets the interval, in seconds, between PS text updates.

Warning! A speed setting below 5 seconds is not recommended. The RDS standard was designed for a static Program Service name. Unlike Radio Text (RT), PS has no A/B flag to indicate that the text has changed. Rapid PS updates can prevent some receivers, particularly newer models, from displaying the name correctly.

      • RT (Radio Text): Configures Radio text.

    • Traffic

      • TP (Traffic Program): Enables the flag indicating that the station regularly broadcasts traffic reports. Compatible car radios can use this flag when operating in Traffic Search mode.

      • TA (Traffic Announcement): Enables the flag indicating that a traffic announcement is in progress. Compatible receivers can use this flag to interrupt the current audio source and switch to the station for the duration of the announcement.

      • TA Time-out: Sets a safety timeout, in seconds, that automatically clears the active TA flag if it is not reset by the announcer or automation. A value of 0 disables the timeout.

    • Program Details

These settings describe the current program and configure the related RDS information.

      • PTY (Programme Type): Selects the program type. Available options listed in the source include 0 — No programme type defined, 1 — News, 2 — Current affairs, and 3 — Information.

      • PTYN: When Dynamic PTY is selected, sets a program type name of up to eight characters.

      • ECC: Sets the Extended Country Code.

      • Use RT: Enables transmission of Radio Text, such as song titles, artist names, or station promotions.

      • Use CT: Enables transmission of clock-time information, including the time and date.

      • Dynamic PTY: Allows the station’s program type to change dynamically, for example, from Music to News.

    • AF (Alternate Frequencies)

      • ADD: Adds an alternate frequency

      • Frequency: Sets the alternate station frequency, such as 87.5 MHz.

      • Title: Sets a descriptive title for the alternate frequency, such as the transmitter location.

    • Other RDS Options

Outdated RDS Options: Enables legacy RDS features that the Omnia XII can still generate but that are no longer supported by the RDS standard (IEC 62106-2:2018). Newer receivers may not respond to these fields.

      The available options include:

      • Stereo

      • Artificial Head

      • Compressed

      • Music

    • These RDS features are identified as obsolete and are no longer supported by the standard:

      • MS (Groups, 0A, 0B, 15B)

      • Selected DI codes (mono/stereo, artificial head, compression)

      • Language Code

  • Metadata

MPX Metadata controls for the MPX RDS generator

  • Settings

MPX Settings for the MPX RDS generator

    Base Config:

    • Country: Selects the country and its associated ITU region. The preconfigured settings include region-specific values, such as the first character of the PI code (except in the USA) and the ECC code.

Override ITU Standard: Allows manual configuration of the PI code and ECC. This is generally not recommended.

History Length: Sets the number of RDS changes displayed on the RDS Dashboard. The minimum value is 1.

Remote: Configures external control of basic RDS functions

    • TCP: Enables control of basic RDS functions using text commands over TCP.

    • UDP: Enables control of basic RDS functions using text commands over UDP.

    • Reset API: Enables control of basic RDS functions through the REST API.

    • Use Token: Secures REST API calls using a header token.

    • API Token: Sets the token used when Reset API is enabled.

[FM Options]

FM Options

  • Pre-emphasis: Selects the pre-emphasis applied to the composite output: 75μs, 50μs, or none.

  • Test Tone: Set to Off for normal operation. When needed, select L Only to send a test tone to the left channel of the composite output.

[RDS Mon]

The RDS Mon block provides diagnostic information and injection-level controls for the integrated RDS generator. The Status, Overflows, and Underflows readings display corresponding codes and messages.

MPX RDS Mod controls

Status: Displays the operational status of the RDS link. The code and message indicate the current state, such as OK or an initialization or connection status.

Overflows: Indicates that incoming RDS data may be arriving faster than it can be processed or transmitted. The code and message report the detected condition. For example, repeatedly sending excessively long text strings through UECP or ASCII without sufficient pauses may cause an overflow.

Underflows: Indicates that the RDS data buffer has run empty. The code and message report the detected condition. Investigate interruptions in the data stream or problems with the automation system if this occurs.

Injection Level Controls

The injection-level controls set the level of the RDS signal mixed into the composite MPX signal. The level must be sufficient for reliable receiver decoding while remaining within the applicable modulation limits.

  • Slider: Adjusts the RDS injection level using the displayed scale (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10).

  • % field: Displays the injection level as a percentage of total composite modulation and allows you to enter a specific value. Changing either control updates the other.

[Stereo Gen]

MPX Stereo Generator controls

SCA 1 Input Gain and SCA 2 Input Gain: Sets the input gain for the respective MPX SCA inputs. If the connected equipment is already calibrated to the transmitter’s expected level, set the gain to 0. Otherwise, adjust the gain to achieve the required SCA input level.

Pilot Level: Sets the 19 kHz pilot injection level, up to 12.0%, in 0.1% increments, relative to 100% modulation. Set the control to 0 to turn off the pilot.

Stereo Generator Modulation: Sets the modulation contribution of the audio and data signals to the transmitter’s RF carrier deviation. Typically, 100% modulation corresponds to ±75 kHz deviation.

SSB Mode ON/OFF: Enables or disables single-sideband suppressed-carrier (SSB) operation. SSB Mode uses a single-sideband, suppressed-carrier L−R stereo signal that can help reduce multipath effects and protect the FM multiplex baseband. Verify that its use complies with the requirements of the applicable broadcast regulatory authority before enabling it.
