What remote control capabilities does the Hx6 and iQ6 have?

Scope

This applies to the Hx6 and IQ6 Talk Show systems.

  • 2001-00342-000: Hx6 POTS + Livewire and Analog I/O

  • 2001-00343-000: Hx6 POTS + Livewire and AES I/O

  • 2001-00248-000: Telos iQ6 Six-Line Telco Gateway for Axia

The Hx6 and iQ6 are functionally equivalent with the exception of the physical IO. The Hx6 has XLR connections for Audio in and out and DB connector for GPIO. The iQ6 has no physical connectors for audio or GPIO, it is all Livewire.

Description

The Hx6 and iQ6 have the ability to be controlled by GPIO as well as provide indications (like Ring status) by GPIO outputs.

The following functions are supported on both platforms

  • Input to mute the ringer

  • Output indicating the user pressed the Dump button on the VSet

  • Output indicating there is a Line ringing

  • Output indicating there is a Priority Line ringing

HX6 Only

The Hx6 has two DE-9 (female) connectors on the back panel. The top jack, labeled GPIO 2, is not used. The GPIO Pinouts are provided here for your convenience. Click to see the full manual for further details.

iQ6 and Hx6

There are two, virtual, Axia GPIO ports that mirror the hardware port (on the Hx6) in functionality. PORT 2 is not used. The GPIO Pinouts are provided here for your convenience. Click to see the full manual for further details.

Note About Livewire GPIO

It is important to think of the Livewire GPIO in these systems as if they were a SEPARATE device. For example; Let's assume you want to MUTE the ringer. If you were doing traditional GPIO you would connect the relay "OUTPUT" to the Input of the Hx6 which would mute the ringer. The same holds true here as if the Livewire GPIO were a separate device. In order to Mute the ringer, you need to assert a GPO (OUTPUT) on the Livewire port. This is wired (albeit virtually) to the INPUTS of the Hx6 which would then trip the Mute.

This is important if you are using software like Pathfinder to monitor and control your Hx6/iQ6. The ringing indications from the Hx6/iQ6 are outputs which are then wired (virtually) to the INPUT of the GPIO Node.

If you were monitoring the Livewire GPIO you would see GPI pin 1 go LOW when a line was ringing, even though its the output of the Hx6/iQ6 that is triggering it.
