Version 1.9.5.25 Changes

Restoring Backup Changes

This version adds some additional options when restoring a backup file to a PathfinderCore PRO system. After clicking the restore link on the backup file, the revised dialog will look like this:

By default, all options will be set to true. This means the backup file will be restored exactly as is. This will be the usual scenario and matches what restoring a backup file has accomplished previously. However, there are situations especially with systems integrators where it can be useful to bring a customer's configuration into your lab system without altering settings like security, make changes and then apply them back to the customer's system without changing some settings on the customer's system. These options help with that.

A good example is LDAP settings in the security section. If the customer is using LDAP as their login mechanism, working on the configuration away from the customer's LDAP servers will deny logins. So it can be useful to restore in both directions without affecting the security settings on either system.

The options are described below:

Restore Ips

Setting this option to false will cause the following settings to get skipped during the restore process leaving them as they are currently set on the system:

  • Hosts

  • Aoip and Office IP address settings

  • Hostname

  • DNS Settings

Restore Foating Ips

If this option is set to False, floating IPs will not be restored from the backup file and the existing floating IPs (if any) will be used.

Restore Security

Setting this option to False will skip restoring the files that are used by the Security section of the navigation bar. Additionally this will skip restoring other user specific settings. The items that will be skipped include:

  • Custom User Menus

  • User Password file

  • User access rights database

  • http/https settings

  • SapV2 Raw and TLS settings

  • Metering Internal/External Settings

  • Ssh Settings

  • Authentication settings

Note: The device passwords Encrypted versus Unencrypted setting is always restored because that setting needs to match the restore files password encryption level in the devices database.

Restore Clustering

Setting this option to false will skip restoring the clustering data and clustering password. This can be useful if you need to design on a stand alone system, but restore to a clustered one. It is important to note that both nodes of the cluster need to be restored from the restore file.

Note: There is a future task planned to allow a cluster restore to be executed once and cascade to the other nodes in the cluster, but for now a restore must be done on each node in the cluster.

Restore Email Settings

Setting this option to false will skip restoring the main email settings. This can be particularly useful to support so that if they load a customer's system without devices attached, it will not start trying to send failure state emails. It is also recommended to isolate the system so that it does not have access to the internet in that case.

Restore Time Settings

Setting this option to false will skip restoring the time zone and NTP settings leaving them as they are in the system instead of replacing these settings with the ones from the backup file.
