Scenes

Scenes are configured presets allowing users to configure the Infinity intercom for different shows that have varied operational requirements. These configured presets allow all aspects of devices within the The Telos Alliance Livewire+™/AES67 ecosystem to be used depending on the permissions set by the System Administrator.

Scenes are similar to Show in VX and are generally created and edited off-line. They may be built within a parent Zone or within the default system. After it has been created and edited, a Scene can be ‘pushed’ to the Live System, resulting in the Infinity being reconfigured in real-time.

An example of this would be a studio in a broadcast facility that is used for multiple shows with different intercom requirements. Once a snapshot of the show has been taken then the configuration is saved as a scene which can be recalled as required.

Creating Scenes

To create a Scene, click on the “Select Scene” tab in the status bar and a configuration window appears. After the Scene has been created, devices are assigned in a similar method to Zones. Once a Scene preset has been completed, it can be recalled by clicking on the “select scene” tab and pushed to the Infinity intercom system.

A scene can also be created by taking a snapshot of an existing configuration and then assigned a scene name, or by creating a blank template and then assigning devices and configurations to it.

To create a blank scene template, click on “Select Scene”. If a scene is already selected then this window will include the current scene name. If the “Live” status icon to the left is “red” then the selected scene is currently loaded into the system. If the “Live” status icon is not red, then Dashboard is offline and the configuration it is showing may not be the current one in the system. Clicking on “Select Scene” takes Dashboard into offline mode.

After creating a Scene, devices and resources are added to it using the “Assign” button similar to Zones in the previous section.

After selecting the Scene with the "Select Scene" dropdown menu on the status bar, click on "Set" to download the configuration to Infinity. A confirmation window will request validation as all devices selected in the current Scene will be updated.

When a Scene has been selected and pushed to Infinity, Dashboard reverts back to the “Live” view showing all devices within the selected Zone, or full system if Zone is selected to “All”. Any devices that have not been assigned to the “pushed Scene” will not receive any changes to their configuration and will not change.

In other words, selecting a Scene and pushing it to Infinity will not erase or change any devices within the existing Zone that are not included in that Scene.

Clone Function

To be sure all devices have been programmed, a default configuration should be established and assigned to a Scene called something like “Master”. The Master Scene will have all devices within the Zone configured. If a user needs to make a second Scene called Rehearsals, then they can use the Clone function to achieve this.

Cloning a default Scene confirms all devices within the Zone are configured and none are left ghosting or ambiguous. A clone is an exact copy of the selected Scene, in this case the Master. The user then only has to edit the newly cloned Scene called Rehearsal without fear of missing any important configuration parameters.
