Basic Operation

Talking

The contact keys have two modes of talk-operation depending on whether the user initiates the momentary or latched modes.

Momentary Mode

This enables a user to speak to the designated contact for as long as the key lever is pressed. To initiate this, push the key lever down for more than half a second. And then release the key to end the call. During this time the key will change color to red to indicate a call is active.

Latched Mode

This allows the user to speak to a contact without having to hold down the key lever. The call is initiated by pushing down the key for less than half a second. The key legend will change color to red and stay connected until the call is cancelled by pushing the key lever down again for less than half a second. The key color will then revert to its default color.

It is possible to disable the latching function for all contact keys from the Web GUI using the “Link Global Latch” control option, or for individual contact keys from the Dashboard GUI.

Also, each key can be individually latched and unlatched.

Listening

By default, incoming calls are automatically answered, and the caller’s audio is heard without any user interaction. It is possible to configure contact keys to simply signal an incoming call request and make the user manually answer the call, like a telephone call. See section “Front Panel” under “Web Page Configuration”.

When an incoming call is received, the contact’s key color will blink green for 3 seconds indicating a call is incoming and will light solid green for as long as the listen function is active.

Adjusting the Main Listening Volume

To adjust the listening volume of the headset, internal speaker, or rear Panel output (main output signal), rotate the “vol” control rotary encoder on the front Panel.

Rotating the encoder clockwise (to the right) increases the volume. Rotating the encoder counterclockwise (to the left) decreases the volume. Pushing the encoder mutes and unmutes the loudspeaker, headset-earmuffs, and line-output.

The green LED’s around the rotary encoder indicate the volume selected. All LED’s off is silence. All LEDs are full volume. Flashing LEDs indicate mute has been selected.

Adjusting the Listening Volume of an Individual Contact

The listening volume of each individual contact can be adjusted independently. This allows the user to vary the level of each input to improve their listening experience.

To adjust the listening level for an individual contact:

  1. Push and hold the contact key up in the listen (up) direction.

  2. At the same time as holding the key, rotate the Main volume encoder to achieve the desired level.

  3. A volume indicator graphic will appear on the contact key while adjusting the gain applied to the individual key.

  4. Release the contact key and the level setting will be stored.

Adjusting the Rear Panel Analog Output Listening Volume

Rotate the “Aux” rotary encoder to adjust the listening level of the rear Panel Aux audio output (Aux audio) when the ‘Aux’ feature is in ‘Variable’ level mode.

All LED’s off is silent. All LEDs are full volume. Flashing LEDs indicate mute has been selected.
