Infinity Link
Introduction
Infinity Link is a powerful system within the Telos Alliance product range that combines the power and flexibility of the Infinity Intercom with the convenience of VoIP over the internet. Using the OPUS codecs, the Infinity Link is available as a standalone unit, or software licenses within the MP-16, DS-16 and MXP-20 panels, as well as the BP-2 and BP-4 beltpacks.
Each VoIP call is connected to an Infinity Link license which in turn converts the call to a Livewire+™ AES67 audio-IP “four-wire”. The four-wire is then available on the LAN and can be used by any connected compliant IP device.
Applications include communications connectivity between remote buildings, party lines and IFBs.
Figure 1 above shows how VoIP calls are converted to Livewire+™ AES67 IP streams. These IP streams are then available throughout the LAN enabling connected devices to receive the VoIP from the caller and send audio back to them.
Figure 2 below shows how a broadcaster's Infinity Intercom is connected to two affiliates over the internet using the Infinity Link OPUS codecs to facilitate full communications between all three sites. Peer to peer communications can be established between the individual directors of each station, or a party line can be established allowing all three directors to hear each other’s discussions to provide an open-talkback system.
Contribution circuits using VoIP can be established with complex return IFBs. As Infinity Intercom is a matrix free solution, the VoIP codec can reside in one of the panels (depending on the Link licenses that have been purchased).
This configuration removes the need for the broadcaster and their affiliates to provide dedicated audio lines between their sites. Instead, they can use the public internet to distribute the communications between the sites using VoIP.
Dashboard facilitates many different configurations allowing complex communication systems to be built with ease and relatively low cost.
Figure 10.3 demonstrates a system to facilitate a guest call using VoIP into the studio, decoded into Livewire+™ AES67 and routed to the sound console. The same panel also provides an IFB derived from the mix-minus generated by the sound console allowing the guest to have a clean feed and be able to listen to the director. All the connectivity takes place in the IP domain and there is no need to use telephone hybrids or analog audio connections.
Multiple VoIP connections can be provided and is only limited by the availability of Link licenses. \
System Requirements
Ensure all conditions listed below are met before attempting to set up Infinity Link.
Infinity MP-16, DS-16 or MXP-20 panels are running firmware version 1.4.17 or later
The Infinity Device is connected to the network and accessible via a PC web browser
You have valid Infinity Link Licenses (one required for each device)
You have been allocated forwarded ports, or access to the facility firewall if an Internet connection is going to be made
