Overview
In newer AERO software, the digital audio output naming was changed from AES to AES3. The newer AERO.20, AERO.200, and AERO.2400 already use the AES3 naming convention.
When an older AERO.20, AERO.200 or AERO.2400 is updated to V3.32.47, the software changes the Outputs > AES/SDI Outputs menu to Outputs > AES3/SDI Outputs.
Because the saved configuration from the older software references the previous AES/SDI Outputs menu name, the updated software may not restore those output assignments. As a result, the AES3 and SDI output selections can come up set to Silence/Off after the update.
Before You Update
• Open NfRemote and connect to the AERO.200 or AERO.2400.
• Navigate to Outputs > AES/SDI Outputs.
• Record every AES output assignment and every SDI output assignment currently in use.
• Take screenshots of the output pages or write down each setting so the configuration can be restored exactly after the update.
• Proceed with the V3.32.47 / Nielsen update only after the current output configuration has been documented.
Before Update - What You Will See
On AERO units running the older software, the menu is labeled Outputs > AES/SDI Outputs. Use these pages as the reference for the settings that must be restored later.
After the V3.32.47 Update
After the update completes, reconnect to the unit with NfRemote and return to the Outputs menu. The menu is now labeled AES3/SDI Outputs instead of AES/SDI Outputs.
Review all AES3 and SDI output selections. If the output items have changed to Silence/Off, manually restore each selection using the settings recorded before the update.
After Update - Expected Change
The key visual change is the menu naming: AES becomes AES3. The output routing selections may also be reset to Silence/Off.
Restore the Output Settings
1. Open NfRemote and connect to the updated AERO unit.
2. Navigate to Outputs > AES3/SDI Outputs.
3. Compare the current AES3 and SDI output selections with the screenshots or notes taken before the update.
4. Restore each AES3 output to the source that was assigned to the corresponding AES output before the update.
5. Restore each SDI output assignment to its previous setting.
6. Confirm that the required audio is present on the physical AES3 and SDI outputs.
7. Save or document the final configuration after verification.
Why This Happens
The behavior is related to the software naming change from AES to AES3. During the update, the unit attempts to reload the previous AES and SDI output configuration. Since the former AES/SDI Outputs menu name has changed to AES3/SDI Outputs, the previous output assignments may not be matched and restored. The affected selections therefore default to Silence/Off.
