Prev Next

For this quick setup, you will configure the Omnia XII audio input and output, based on physical connections you made on the Omnia XII back panel. You will use the Omnia XII front panel.

Configuring Inputs

For quick setup, use a valid analog or AES input source, which is plugged into the appropriate back-panel connectors.

To configure Omnia XII Analog or AES inputs:

  1. Drive the input for the preferred mix with typical program material at a normal operating level.
You should see meter activity on the IN bar graph meters.

Refer to the horizontal IN meter at the top of the screen.

    Preferred Mix Controls

    1. Adjust the input level so that the peak-reading IN bar graph meters read just into the yellow (about -15 to -12 dBFS).

Note: The IN bar graph meters are post-fader. The individual input level meters (Analog, AES 1, and so on) are pre-fader.

    2. Set all faders that are not part of the Preferred Mix to OFF.

Configuring Composite MPX Outputs

Composite MPX output is via the Omnia XII back-panel 1 Out or 2 Out stereo BNC connector in the Composite I/O section.

To configure Omnia XII composite MPX output:

  1. Play typical program material through the Omnia XII.

  2. Press the Omnia logo to reveal the front panel menus, and then press the MPX menu.

  3. On the MPX outputs page, press the FM Options tab and ensure that the Pre-emphasis setting is correct for your country.

  5. Verify that normal program material is present and that the configured outputs indicate audio on the MPX output meters.

Selecting a Preset

Omnia XII ships with ADULT_HITS loaded as its factory default preset. ADULT_HITS is a great, general purpose preset that will get you started. Experiment loading other factory presets to match your programming. See Working with Presets in the Omnia XII User Manual for information about auditioning and selecting presets.

Once the output meters show normal program material and the selected preset is running, see the Omnia XII User Manual for further processing, I/O, RDS, AoIP, failover, Playout, and system configuration.
