Scope
This article applies to iPort units running version 2.0 or higher software.
Description
Feature Licenses for iPort are "locked" to the hardware for a particular iPort. If the need ever arises to move or deactivate a license, this must be done FIRST, before moving the license code to a different unit. A license that has been activated on one iPort will not activate on a second unit without releasing the license. The following steps show you how to release an aptX or Content Delay (also referred to as Time Zone Delay) license.
Deactivating a License
For the iPort PLUS there is a possibility of two feature licenses. An aptX audio coding license and a Content Delay (Time Zone Delay) license.
Content Delay license requires special (optional) hardware to function. If your unit was not purchased WITH content delay, you will not have this additional hardware. Activating a Content Delay license on a unit with no hardware to support it will not provide the feature.
We find that most iPorts do not reach the internet directly. Therefore, we will cover the off-line method of deactivation here.
Navigate to the main Web Page of your iPort.
Choose Options from the left side menu
Active feature licenses are shown at the bottom of the Options page.
Click on the Activate Licenses... button in the Feature Licensing section
Only Step 1 on the following page will be used.

Select Offline activation
Select Deactivate
Enter your license code
Make sure the correct Product ID is selected
Click Generate request code
Once you have clicked Generate request code, your license is deactivated from this machine. You MUST complete the next step to release the license from the license server so you can activate it on another iPort.
Because we are completing this deactivation offline, you will receive the message "Couldn't connect to Telos servers." THIS IS NORMAL.

Copy the entire link shown. The link will begin with http:// and end with an exclamation mark.
On a computer with access to the internet, open a browser and paste the link. When submitted, the page will respond with "OK."
This license is now reset and can be activated on a different iPort. Repeat these steps if there are additional licenses.
