PDM II is the successor product to the original Program Delay Manager (first released in 2008). PDM II carries forward all the great software features that PDM is known for, while improving the design.
Here are the key differences from the original PDM:
PDM II is CE marked
Single SKU, supporting Analog, AES-3 and AoIP simultaneously (no more converting units from one type to the other)
Housed in a cool running, fanless chassis, with significantly improved processing abilities
Redundant power (IEC and PoE, just like an xNode)
Analog and AES3 signals are on RJ45s (Studio Hub) connectors. (RJ45 adapters are sold separately)
Two network adapters supporting separate gateways for AoIP and Admin (does not support SMPTE 2022-7)
Hardware GPIO moves from a DB25 (8 inputs, 8 outputs) to a DB15 (5 inputs, 5 outputs, consistent with pinouts on our xNodes). As with PDM1, there are another 20 Livewire input and output lines.
Hardware RS232 and RS485 ports have been removed. For those needing legacy connectivity, our serial control over IP language can support external IP to RS232 converters. We have prepared a use guide for one such converter here.
Supports both Livewire+ and AES67 AoIP
Can accept audio input on any supported format; will output audio on all supported formats and connectors
Supports synchronizing audio clocks to Livewire or PTP clock masters
PD-Alert™ is compatible with encrypted email servers
TelosConnect protocol supported, allowing users to initiate a socket connection directly to our support desk.
Many other changes are under the hood, including increased web security measures. PDM II has undergone extensive field testing prior to release.
