How is the Secondary / WAN port used on the back of StudioEdge and StudioCore

Scope

This document applies to an Axia StudioCore and covers the following part numbers.

  •  2001-00633-000: Axia StudioCore

  • 2001-00634-000: Axia StudioCore Dual PSU

  • 2001-00635-000: Axia StudioCore + CAN

  • 2001-00636-000: Axia StudioCore + CAN Dual PSU

StudioEdge and StudioCore use the same chassis; however, StudioCore has a second DSP for the console engine that is not included on StudioEdge devices The Secondary / WAN port is only availble to units badged as StudioCore on the front panel or on the model ID sticker on the back.

The specific port referred to in this document is labeled Secondary / WAN under the DSP Engine heading in the cluster of network ports located at the bottom right of the rear panel.

Description

This Secondary / WAN port is designed as an additional connection to Studio Core's “Console” (or DSP). It can be used for configuration, programming, and CoreSoft access that is not on the multicast network, such as a business network that may have access to the Internet or a corporate VPN.

No multicast audio can be contributed over this connection, but it can be used by the “LISTEN” options available to the Monitor and Headphone sections of CoreSoft.

Configuration

The Secondary / WAN port is unconfigured by default and can be found under the StudioCore webUI's Network Setup options.

  • The WAN IP Address and main IP Address should be differnet subnets.

  • There is only ONE Gateway

  • There is no DNS

Do not put the SAME IP address in BOTH fields.
