Description
"The StudioCore unit may need two software updates to be uploaded: one for the Edge I/O component and one for the Core DSP Engine component. A StudioEdge unit will only need one update for the Edge I/O component.
For a complete description of the product's internal architecture, please refer to the QSG
How to Identify Your Unit
If you are uncertain about which unit you have, a sticker is on the rear. You can see that our sample unit is a StudioCore equipped with the CAN feature. In our case, we need two updates (one for the Edge IO component and one for the DSP Engine component)
Obtaining the update files
If you are updating a StudioEdge unit, download this file and store it in an accessible location on the computer you will utilize for the update. https://telos-support.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/Axia/StudioEdge/1601-00610-004-studio-edge-io-1.2.1-2024.12.19.itb
If you are updating a StudioCore unit, download the previous file AND this one https://telos-support.s3.us-east-1.amazonaws.com/Axia/StudioCore/1601-00609-003-studio-core-dsp-1.2.1-2024.12.19.itb
Notice they have the names core-dsp and ege-io in the description. This will be important later.
Performing the update
If you are updating a SudioCore unit, there is no specific sequence required for updates. In this instance, we will begin with StudioEdge.
Update StudioEdge I/O
Using a Web Browser, enter the IP address of your StudioEdge IO in the address bar. In our example http://192.168.2.35. Verify the Studio Edge Control Center is displayed (not Studio Core)
Click the Software link on the left side menu.
Enter your username and password.
The user name is always “user”. The default password is blank (no password)
Almost all Axia products utilize a dual-bank software update mechanism, where one bank is active (or operational) while the other is designated for uploading new versions, enabling you to upload and then activate at a more suitable time. You can see in our image below version 1.2.0 is currently showing [active] and version 1.0.0 is in the unused bank.
Click the Choose File button next to Upload new software
Browse for and select the correct update file for StudioEdge that you downloaded in the previous step.
Pay attention to the name of the file. In this case we are looking for edge-io in the name. The system will not accept the incorrect file.
Click the Upload Image button to upload the new file to the inactive bank.
Activating the new version
We have observed that in a few cases, this update might necessitate a 15-second power cycle. This is a timing issue that will be resolved in a subsequent version. Therefore, we advise against executing this 1.2.1 update remotely.
The next action necessitates a reboot to enable the alternate bank. Anticipate a 15 to 30 second interruption in audio.
Click the small bubble next to the new version.
Click Switch to Selected Bank. The unit will restart.
After restart, the Status and Software pages indicate the new version number.
Update StudioCore (if required)
If you are updating a StudioCore unit, repeat the above steps using the update for the Core DSP component you downloaded previously
