How to locate an Infinity Renderer

SCOPE

This is document explains how to run the Renderer Finder application on a Windows 10 desktop. All commands to be typed or pasted from this document are denoted with double quotes. The quotes are not to be included in the commands.

DESCRIPTION

The use case for this tool is to locate Infinity device hosting the renderer for a given AES67 stream. This can useful when troubleshooting audio drop outs.

  1. Place the “Renderer Finder.zip” on desktop of the computer running Dashboard Advanced. You can download the Renderers Finder here

  2. Unzip “Renderer Finder.zip” to the desktop of the Dashboard Advanced PC

  3. Open command prompt

  4. Type cd into command prompt

  5. Drag the Renderer Finder Folder into the command prompt window

  6. Press the “Enter” key

  7. You should now be in the "Renderer Finder" folder. From this folder, run the command “node renderers.js”

  8. Your command prompt window will begin to fill with text. Allow this to run for 15 - 30 seconds

  9. Use the key combination “Crtl"+"C” to stop the renderer finder application

  10. Use “Crtl”+”A” to select the contents of the entire window

  11. Use “Ctrl”+”C” to copy the contents of the window to your clipboard

  12. Open your preferred text editor

  13. Use “Ctrl”+”P” to paste the contents into your text editor

  14. Engage the text editors find function (Note: many use “Crtl”+”F” as a shortcut to open this)

  15. Type the Livewire or multicast channel associated with the renderer into the find function.

  16. Press the “Enter” key to start the search

  17. Now look to the left of the highlighted text and you will see the IP address of the panel containing the renderer.
