Introducing the xNode2

xNode2s are a family of half-rack AoIP nodes transitioning between Line level, AES3, Microphone, or GPIO into an Audio over Internet Protocol (AoIP). The xNode2 is the next in a series of successful node products from Telos Alliance. The xNode2 family is composed of:

  • Analog Input/Output xNode2: 4 stereo Analog Line-level inputs, 4 Stereo Analog Line-level outputs

  • AES3 Input/Output xNode2: 4 AES3 inputs, 4 AES3 outputs

  • Microphone/Line Input/ Analog Line-level Output: 4 Microphone or mono Line-level inputs, 4 Stereo Analog Line-level outputs

  • GPIO Logic xNode2: 6 DA-15 General Purpose Input Output  ports, each port with 5 opto-isolated inputs and 5 opto-isolated outputs

  • Mixed Signal Input/Output xNode2: 1 Mic/Mono Line Analog input, 3 Stereo Analog Line-level inputs, 1 AES3 input, 3 Stereo Analog Line-level output, 1 AES3 output, 2 DA-15 General Purpose Input Output  ports, each port with 5 opto-isolated inputs and 5 opto-isolated outputs

  • The family of xNode2s support Gigabit Ethernet network connections

  • The family of xNode2s support IEEE 802.3at power over Ethernet (PoE+)

  • The family of xNode2s have a color LCD display for setup and status on the front panel

  • The family of xNode2s have all i/o connections, 2 network ports, and IEC AC input at the rear.

  • The xNode2 is a small form factor at 1U Half-Rack

  • The xNode2 family supports single or dual rack-mounting

  • Thermal sensors monitor temperatures and provide notifications

  • Power sequencing circuit protects internal ICs

Front Panel

The xNode2 has the LCD display for initial-setup and operational status information.

The screen will show different content based on the style of xNode2. Also on the front panel are two buttons to assist with navigation of the screen and two LEDs to indicate the active power supply.

Rear Panel

The rear panel will vary between models of the xNode2 family. All models will have an IEC-C13 connector for AC power and two ethernet ports for network connectivity. The top ethernet port accepts a PoE+ power. Both ports support 1 Gigabit Ethernet connections.

The remainder of the rear panel will depend on the model.

Analog Line Level

Four stereo inputs and four stereo outputs are available in parallel through the RJ45 ports or the DB-25 ports. Pinout information is available in chapter four dedicated to the Analog model.

AES3

Four AES3 inputs and four AES3 outputs are available in parallel through the RJ45 ports or the DB-25 ports. Pinout information is available in chapter five dedicated to the AES3 model.

Microphone

Four Microphone inputs and four stereo analog line-level outputs available on RJ45 or DB-25 connector. Note that the Microphone inputs on the RJ45 do not follow the top row and instead keep to the left two columns for improved noise isolation. Pinout information is available in chapter six dedicated to the Microphone model.

GPIO

6 DA-15 ports, each with 5 opto-inputs and 5 opto-outputs. Pintout information is available in chapter seven dedicated to the GPIO model.

Mixed Signal

  • 1 XLR Mic/Line analog input

  • 3 stereo analog inputs (RJ45)

  • 1 AES3 input (RJ45)

  • 3 stereo analog outputs (RJ45)

  • 1 AES output (RJ45)

  • 2 GPIO ports, each with 5 inputs and 5 outputs (DA-15)

Chapter eight, dedicated to Mixed model covers the pinouts

HTML Interface

xNode2 setup and maintenance is through an HTML interface (otherwise known as a web interface). Accessing this interface requires a PC that is on the same network as the xNode2 and has an IP address within the same subnet. Type the IP address into the URL field of the browser. To access the interface, authentication is required.

On authentication, the page will show system information.
