NotaBotYet GPIO Breakout Boards and Axia Accessory Panels

Prev Next

Scope

Axia GPIO xNodes use DB15 connectors for each GPIO port. Our GPIO Mic Accessory Panel and GPIO Filmcap rack panels also use a DB15 connector as their GPIO interface.

In most cases, connecting an xNode GPIO port to an Accessory Panel’s GPIO port requires a simple straight-through cable with DB15 connectors on each end. The accessory panels are internally wired to support this arrangement, making it straightforward to build and use such a cable.

For added convenience, NotaBotYet offers the GPIO Breakout Board for Axia, which eliminates the need to fabricate custom cables and simplifies setup even further.

Description

The NotaBotYet GPIO Breakout Board converts the DB15 GPIO connector into two RJ45 jacks. This allows you to use standard CAT5e patch cables to complete the GPIO wiring between an xNode GPIO port and an accessory panel (with a breakout board installed at each end).

Because the accessory panels are designed for a straight-through DB15 connection, the Breakout Board’s RJ45 ports and jumpers must be configured correctly. This document provides step-by-step guidance on how to set them up.

Which Axia Accessory panels does this apply to?

This advice only applies when using NotaBotYet GPIO Breakout Boards between an Axia GPIO port and these panels:

Name (Telos PN)

Picture

Axia Console GPIO Accessory Module (2001-00436-000)

5-Button Film-Cap Switch Panel (2001-20223-000)

10-Button Film-Cap Switch Panel (2001-20224-000)

15-Button Film-Cap Switch Panel (2001-20225-000)

Correct NotaBotYet connections and jumpers

Set jumper positions on each breakout board:

The four red jumpers need to be set in position towards the RJ-45 connectors as shown below

Connect breakout boards together:

The IN labeled RJ45 connector should connect to the other adapters’ IN labeled RJ45 connector (IN → IN)

The OUT labeled RJ45 connector should connect to the other adapters OUT labeled RJ45 connector (OUT → OUT)
