SCOPE
This document applies to all variants of the Telos Z/IP Stream R2 with serial numbers 74-1223 through 74-1359. If your serial number is outside of this range, this article does not apply to your unit.
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Telos identified a possible compatibility issue where occasionally, the operating system is not able to write anything to the SSD drive. If this happens, the Z/IP Stream will lock up, requiring a reboot. While this does not happen to every system, Telos is proactively replacing these SDD drives with a different model in these cases.
REPLACING THE SSD DRIVE
This article uses a StarTech SDOCK2U313R standalone duplicator as well as new Kingston DC500M SSD drives. Other methods for duplicating these drives can be used; however, this method is tested and known to work without issue.
CAUTION if using your own method for duplication!! If you erase the original Apacer driver the Z/IP Stream MUST be returned to the factory to be re-imaged.
Remove the Apacer SSD Drive
Disconnect and remove your Z/IP Stream R2 from the rack.
If mounted using the supplied rack rails, there are clips on either side that must you must release to slide the unit out. The clips are opposite each other. One clip lifts up, while the opposite side is pressed down.

There are three small Philips-head screws and one knurled thumbscrew. One of the Philips-head screws may be located under the "warranty void if removed" sticker. You will NOT void your warranty by removing this sticker.

Use the knurled thumbscrew to pull back and remove the cover from the unit.
The location of the SSD drive is in the right corner of the front of the unit.
