Screensaver and Brightness Timer

Scope

Axia Quasar AoIP Mixing Consoles, our sixth-generation of AoIP consoles, we do use a LCD TFT as a part of the MTS-MON Module. We got some great feedback already as well as some customer starting to see some kind of burn-in when running the studio 24/7 and after a few month powered. Please see the picture below and you will slightly see the round clock in the background. Sure, you have to closely look to see the round clock inside the red circle.

Technical Background

Being a TFT LCD and not an OLED, this display will not suffer from burn-in (which is a permanent damage to the pixels) but it could suffer from Image Retention issue, if a static image, like GUI Home page is displayed many hours a day (for example during the night).

Solution for software release v2.0.4 and earlier

Luca had to speak to the Kyocera engineers in Japan (!) to get to the bottom of this issue. They said:

Trying turning the display off and leaving it off for a period of time.  May require a full day to heal.

Solution for the future

Luca already added a Screensaver and Brightness Timer to the roadmap and will giving it a high priority, so it will come soon.
