Setting up Omnia XII System Software

Prev Next

After you make Omnia XII hardware connections for networking and then configure the network interface used for system management and remote control, you are ready to launch the web UI.

Initial web UI tasks include:

  • Launching the Omnia XII web UI and logging in

  • Creating a local or global user account (internet access required for using a global user account the first time)

  • Accessing the System Configuration page to configure administrative tasks

Launching the Omnia XII Web UI and Logging In

Once you have configured the Omnia XII network connection, you can launch the Omnia XII web UI on a computer and log in to access remote controls.

For initial remote control, an internet connection is not required. You can create a local account and access the web UI using that account. If internet access is available, you will instead use a TelosID+ account to access the web UI.

Launching the Omnia XII Web UI and Logging In with No Internet Connection

You can launch the Omnia XII web UI when your computer or laptop are plugged into the same local network switcher, router, or studio environment as the Omnia XII.

To select a front panel touchscreen menu:

  1. Press the Omnia XII logo in the upper left corner of the screen to reveal the menu list.

To launch the Omnia XII web UI (with no internet connection):

  2. Open a web browser on a computer.

  3. Enter the IP address assigned to your Omnia XII and press Enter.

Note: Do not append a port number to the address.

  4. When the Local Account dialog displays, enter your Username (letters and numbers only), Initial Password (the password provided on the front panel), your New Password and its confirmation in the Confirm Password field, and then click Add.

The web UI landing page displays.

Launching the Omnia XII Web UI and Logging In with an Internet Connection

When logging in with an Internet connection, the steps are dependent on whether you have a local account or not. When you do not have a local account, you will need to create a TelosID+ account.

To launch the Omnia XII web UI with a local account (with internet connection):

  1. If you have not created a local account previously, do so at this time. See Creating a Local or Global Account.

  2. Open a web browser on a computer.

  3. Enter the IP address assigned to your Omnia XII and press Enter.

Note: Do not append a port number to the address.

The web UI Login dialog displays.

To launch the Omnia XII web UI with no local account (with internet connection):

  1. Open a web browser on a computer.

  2. Enter the IP address assigned to your Omnia XII and press Enter.

Note: Do not append a port number to the address.

The web UI Login dialog displays.

  1. Create a TelosID+ account:

A valid TelosID+ is required to log in to your account when you have an internet connection and have not created a local account.

    1. Click Register for your TelosID+ at the bottom of the TelosID+ Login dialog.

      The TelosID+ Register page displays.

    2. Complete the registration form.

Text fields for all field names with an asterisk must be completed. This includes clicking the Accept EULA switch to show that you have accepted the end user license.

    3. Click Register.

    4. Check your email for a confirmation message.

    5. Follow the instructions in the email to verify your email address.

    6. Return to the TelosID+ Login dialog.

  2. If the Telos ID+ Login dialog is not displayed on your web browser, access the dialog on your browser by entering the IP address assigned to your Omnia XII.

  3. Log in with your new TelosID+ account

    1. From the TelosID+ Login dialog, enter your TelosID+ and password.

    2. Click Log In.

Creating a Local or Global User Account

Omnia XII supports two types of user accounts:

  • Local: These accounts are confined to your access to your Omnia XII. They do not require internet access.

  • Global: These accounts are for when you want to give another user with a TelosID+ access to your Omnia XII. These accounts require internet access for the first use only. Once a user has logged in with the internet, they can log in offline in the same manner as a local account.

To create a local or global user account:

  1. Launch the Omnia XII web UI.

  2. Click on the Omnia XII logo in the top left corner.

  3. Click Manage Users.

In the Accounts box, you will see a list of all current users. Your TelosID+ is the default administrative account.

  4. Click Add.

  5. To create a local account:

    1. Fill out the Local Account form (Username, Password, and Confirm Password).

Note: This is not the username associated with your TelosID+. You should create a new username for this field (for example local_account).

The Username must be letters and numbers only.

The Password must contain 8 characters, with at least one uppercase letter, at least one lowercase letter, and at least one number.

    2. Click Add.

Once you create a local account, you can now log in to the web UI with these local account credentials without internet access.

  6. To create a global account:

    1. In the Email field, enter the email address associated with the TelosID+ account you want to grant access to the Omnia XII.

The TelosID+ account must already exist; it is not created or managed in this location. If you need to create a TelosCard account, first complete the steps in Launching the Omnia XII Web UI and Logging In with an Internet Connection.

    2. Click Add.

Accessing the System Configuration Page

The System Configuration page provides access to administrative functions (such as network settings, software maintenance, backups, logs, and user management). For additional functions, see System Configuration Page Menus.

The System Configuration page uses a separate login from the main web UI login.

Important! After making initial system configuration changes, create a backup of system settings and software. Store backup files on a computer or network location rather than on the Omnia XII. See Backing up Your System and Software.

Note: Some configuration changes performed on the System Configuration page require a reboot. When required, a reboot option is displayed in the interface.
Rebooting the unit will take you off the air for about one minute while the unit reboots; be sure you are prepared to do this or have a backup processor online.

Logging into the System Configuration

You need to request a password in order to log in to the System Configuration the first time. Subsequently, you will only need to provide your User Name (user) and your Password.

You can change your System Configuration log in password using the same steps as those for logging in the first time.

Prerequisites:

  • Network connection to the Omnia XII. See Installing Omnia XII.

  • Power applied to unit.

  • Computer on the same IP network as the Omnia XII. (See Accessing the Web UI.)

To log in to the System Configuration the first time (or to change your System Configuration password):

  1. Request a System Configuration password directly from the unit.

    1. On the Omnia XII front panel, press the Admin menu to display administrative settings.

    2. Press Security.

A password is provided in the New Password box. You will use this password to launch the System Configuration page in the web UI.

  2. Launch the Omnia XII web UI.

If the web UI is already open, return to the landing page (for example by clicking the Omnia XII logo at the top of the page and selecting Home.)

  3. Click the System Configuration tab.

Prerequisites:

  • Power applied to the unit.

  • Network connection to the Omnia XII. See Installing Omni XII.

  • Computer on same IP network as the Omnia XII. (See Accessing the Web UI.)

Note:  Net 1 is the primary AoIP interface and carries Livewire+ and AES67 audio networking. Net 2 and Net 3 are typically for system management and remote control. They do not carry AoIP multicast traffic.

To configure Omnia XII network settings (from the System Configuration page):

  1. Access the System Configuration page.

  2. Click Configuration.

    Partial view of Configuration page
