Scope

The following products are covered by this document.

  • 2001-00441-000: Z/IPStream R/2 hardware unit with IP Driver Program embedded in the Web UI.

Description

The IP Driver version 2.8.0.8 within the original Image of the R2 for the does not allow for Pathfinder to control the Output Destination inherently with a Fader in a user Panel mapped to the OutputGaininDb property. there are several ways to fix this issue. We will discuss these ways in this document.

This document assume you have knowledge of the Telos Z/IP R2 unit already and are familiar with the inner configuration of this unit. This document also assumes you have an Input plugged into the Telos Z/IP R2 unit and have the input programmed and can see its meters on your AP Instance from the R2's Web UI.

The Issue

Below are two Putty instances. The left is an instance telnet into an R2 with IP Driver 2.8.0.8 the DST for channels 1 - 16 are using the INGN syntax for the Output Gain. However, the Putty instance on the right is a telnet session into an R2 unit with IP Driver 2.11.0.10. Here we can tell the Output gain is using the correct syntax for the Output Gain.

Option #1

A telnet session into the R2 unit will allow access to send LWRP messages to each Destination individvually to set the Gain.

For Channel DST 16 above, we were able to check the current level of DST16, Login and set the level to -5dB. A return line is sent back confirming this change has taken place.

In order to do to this for the original IP Driver version 2.8.08 the syntax will be "DST #16 INGN:-5"

Option #2

In this option, we will need to build a User Panel in Pathfinder to control the Output Gain with a virtual Fader.

This option will not work with the original IP Driver version 2.8.08

  1. Login to Pathfinder.

  2. Choose User Panels from the Navigation Menu.

  3. Choose the "+" button, to add a brand New Panel that we will create in.

  4. From the left column of item, choose Custom and drag a fader from the menu onto the Panel Page.

  5. Your Panel should look like this now:

  6. Once your fader is added, we will need to tie the fader to the Output Gain Property in dB for your R2.

  7. Choose Control from the Property Window.

  8. Select Endpoints, Choose API for the correct viewing window.

  9. Navigate to the Win Ip Driver instance for the correct R2 Unit. You may use the IP for reference.

  10. Here is what your Selector Proprty Window should look like:

  11. Save the User Panel, you can now open your User Panel and use your fader to control the level of your IP Driver DST. In this example, we used DST #16 for control. You may use any DST channel 1 - 16 in your unit.

Option #3

You may call or email into Telos Alliance support and have your IP Driver updated. This process will not be covered in this document as it takes intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the Z/IP R2 unit and the update can only be performed by a Telos Support Technician.

The process will require multiple reboots, and will cause off air to streaming services. If you would like to infer about this option, please have your Serial Number ready and email support@telosalliance.com.
