Power
There is no on/off switch; connecting to AC power will begin the boot process which takes about 60 seconds. Be sure to plug in both power supplies (ideally fed from separate circuits) for full redundancy.
Keyboard and Display
Connect a USB keyboard to one of the rear panel USB ports and a VGA display to the VGA port. Once connected, you should see the Network Settings menu (see Figure 2) on the display. You may need to press the escape key on your keyboard to wake the display. If a different menu is shown, press the escape key until you have navigated back to this menu.

While using a USB keyboard and VGA display is the preferred method for setting up VX Enterprise or VX Prime+, you can also access the unit by directly connecting it to a computer using a network cable and a web browser as described in the Access via Default IP Address section.
AoIP and WAN Interface Setup
AoIP Interface Setup
From the Network Settings menu, highlight the AoIP Interface option by using the arrow keys, then press the Enter key to select it.
Enter the IP address to be used by the AoIP network interface (NET 2) into the IP Address field using the number and period keys. Use the arrow keys to move your cursor and the backspace key to delete characters. You may need to toggle the Number Lock function on your keyboard if you are using the number pad.
Press the Tab key to advance to the Netmask field, then enter the subnet mask.
Press the Tab key, highlight OK, then press the Enter key. You will be returned to the Network Settings menu.
WAN Interface Setup
From the Network Settings menu, highlight the WAN Interface option by using the arrow keys, then press the Enter key to select it.
The WAN interface (NET 1) is enabled by default. Set the IP Address and Netmask using the steps outlined above for the AoIP interface.
If you do not intend to use the WAN Interface, highlight Enable WAN and change the Y/N field to show "N." It is not necessary to remove the existing IP Address or Netmask values.
Gateway and DNS Settings
From the Network Settings menu, choose the Gateway and DNS option.
Enter the Gateway IP address in the Gateway field.
Enter the IP addresses of the primary (DNS 1) and secondary (DNS 2) Domain Name Service servers. These fields may be left blank if they are not applicable to your installation
Only one gateway may be set. If the WAN network interface (NET 1) is enabled, the gateway applies to this interface. If the WAN network interface is disabled, the gateway applies to the AoIP network interface (NET 2).
Apply Changes and Reboot
From the Network Settings menu, choose Apply Changes and Reboot.
A warning explains that proceeding will drop any connected calls and reboot the unit. To proceed, use the arrow keys to highlight Yes, then press the Enter key.
The unit will apply your changes and reboot, which will take approximately 60 seconds.
To discard any changes and prevent the unit from rebooting, highlight Cancel instead and press the Enter key.
Access via Default IP Address
In lieu of using a USB keyboard and VGA display, VX Enterprise and VX Prime+ can also be configured by connecting a computer and using the web-based GUI.
Ensure that your computer's network interface is configured to use the same IP address class and subnet as the AoIP network interface (NET 2). For instance:
IP Address: 192.168.2.10
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway and DNS: (Blank)
The default AoIP network interface (NET 2) IP address is 192.168.2.100/24. The default WAN network interface (NET 1) IP address is 10.10.2.100/24.
Continuing the Configuration Process
At this point, the initial hardware configuration is complete and the USB keyboard and VGA display can be disconnected. All further configuration will be carried out through the web GUI.
On a computer connected to the same network as VX Enterprise or VX Prime+, enter the VX's IP address in the URL field of any web browser.
When connecting remotely through the AoIP interface (NET 2), simply entering the unit's IP address will be sufficient as this connection uses port 80 by default.
When using the WAN interface (NET 1), which uses port 8080, it will be necessary to specify the port after the IP address. For example, http://10.10.2.100:8080 (replacing the default IP address with the address specified in the WAN interface).
At the login prompt, enter "user" as the User Name, leave the Password field blank, then click the Submit button.
Please refer to the user manual for additional information. If you are using VX Enterprise, continue to the Activating Licenses section.
Activating Licenses (VX Enterprise Only)
/If you ordered additional VX Enterprise License Packs to expand your system (eight hybrids per pack, Telos part number 2201-00031-000), one-time license activation is required to enable them.
Before you begin, locate the license document(s) provided to you by your Telos Alliance dealer. Each license document contains one VX Enterprise License Pack license.
It is simplest to complete license activation from a computer that has access to both the VX Enterprise and the internet simultaneously.
From the web browser, access the System > Licenses page. VX Enterprise includes 24 hybrids by default so the Fader Limit field shows as 0 / 24 indicating that no hybrids of the available 24 have been configured.
Enter the license code provided by your dealer into the Add license field, then click Add. (The license code will begin with
VXE
. )If the web browser you are using has access to the internet, the license will automatically be activated. Note that the Features column will show the number of activated hybrids and the fader limit will increase.
Repeat this process for any additional licenses you want to activate on the VX Enterprise unit.
Be sure to activate each license only on the desired VX Enterprise unit. Once activated, licenses can only be transferred between units through the Dedicated Remote Configuration service ordered from Telos Alliance Support.
Manual License Activation
If your browser does not have access to the internet, the following error message will appear and the license will need to be manually activated:
Click the Activate link next to the license code.
Copy the Request Code to a text file, then transfer that text file to a computer with internet access using a USB drive or other means.
On the computer with internet access, access the Telos Alliance Activation site (https://secure.telos-systems.com) with a web browser, paste the Request Code, and click Submit.
Copy the resulting Activation Code and save it to a text file, then transfer that file back to the computer with access to the VX Enterprise.
Paste the Activation Code into the VX Enterprise, then click Activate.
