Resetting the Administrator Password on Aero Series Products

Overview

This article explains how to reset the administrator password on supported Aero Series products using a USB flash drive and the A1K_PasswordUnlock utility.

The reset process requires the unit's host name to generate a unique unlock code.

Supported Products

This procedure applies to the Aero product family that supports the A1K_PasswordUnlock utility, including the A1K family of products.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Physical access to the product.

  • The product's Host Name.

  • The A1K_PasswordUnlock.exe utility.

  • A USB flash drive formatted with a supported file system.

  • A text editor such as Notepad.

Locate the Host Name

The product's Host Name is displayed on the front panel.

For example:

A100-501157

Record the host name, as it is required to generate the unlock code.

Generate the Unlock Code

  1. Launch A1K_PasswordUnlock.exe.

  2. Enter the product's host name.

  3. Generate the unique 10-digit unlock code for that specific unit.

Note: The unlock code is unique to each product and cannot be used on another unit.

Create the Password Reset File

Using a text editor, create a file named:

password_reset.txt

The file must contain:

  • Line 1: The 10-digit unlock code.

  • Line 2: The new administrator password.

Example:

3098201998
secret

Save the file in the root directory of the USB flash drive.

Important: The file must be named password_reset.txt and placed in the root of the USB drive, not inside a folder.

Reset the Password

  1. Safely eject the USB flash drive from your computer.

  2. Insert the USB drive into the Aero product's USB port.

The product will automatically detect the password_reset.txt file and update the administrator password.

No additional user interaction is required.

Verification

After the password reset completes:

  • Remove the USB flash drive.

  • Log in to the product using the new administrator password.

  • Confirm that the new password is accepted.

Troubleshooting

If the password is not reset:

  • Verify the file is named password_reset.txt exactly.

  • Confirm the file is located in the root of the USB drive.

  • Ensure the unlock code was generated using the correct host name.

  • Verify the unlock code is on the first line and the new password is on the second line, with no additional spaces or blank lines.

  • Try using a different USB flash drive if the device does not detect the file.
