Performing a Factory Reset on the LA-5291, LA-5300, or UpMAX ISC via SSH

Overview

This article describes how to perform a factory reset on the following Linear Acoustic products using an SSH connection:

  • LA-5291

  • LA-5300

  • UpMAX ISC

The factory reset is initiated by running a reset script from the product's Linux command line.

Warning: A factory reset restores the unit to its default configuration. Back up any required settings before proceeding.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

  • Network connectivity to the product.

  • The product's IP address.

  • A Windows PC with Tera Term installed.

  • Administrative access to the device.

Connect to the Product Using SSH

  1. Open Tera Term.

  2. Select TCP/IP.

  3. Configure the connection using the following settings:

  4. Select OK.

  5. After a few seconds, a security confirmation window will appear. Select Continue.

  6. When the SSH Authorization window opens, enter the following credentials:

  7. Select OK to open the terminal session.

Perform the Factory Reset

At the command prompt, enter the following commands:

su
cd /usr/arc
./factory_reset.sh

Note: There is a space between cd and /usr/arc.

What to Expect

After the reset script is executed:

  • The front panel display will go blank.

  • The unit will begin the factory reset process.

  • Once the reset is complete, the front panel display will return to normal.

  • The web user interface should automatically reconnect after the device finishes restarting.

Verification

After the unit has restarted:

  • Verify that the front panel display has returned to normal.

  • Connect to the web interface.

  • Confirm that the device has been restored to its factory default configuration.

  • Reconfigure the device or restore a saved configuration if required.

Troubleshooting

If the reset does not complete successfully:

  • Verify that the SSH connection was established using the correct IP address.

  • Confirm you entered the commands exactly as shown.

  • Ensure there is a space between cd and /usr/arc.

  • Allow several minutes for the reset process to complete before attempting to reconnect.
