Updating the software in the Linear Acoustic LA-5300, LA-5291, and UPMAX ISC

Warning!  

Updating the software in your unit WILL interrupt audio and all processing.  Ensure the unit is not in the critical air chain when you perform an update.

Scope

This document provides instruction on updating the operating software in the Linear Acoustic LA-5300, LA-5291, and UPMAX ISC.

About Software Updates

Things Required To Perform The Update:

  • Appropriate software update file

  • Computer used to control the unit via a web browser (Chrome or Safari are recommended)

  • Physical access to the unit, in case a power cycle is required

Time Required: This update may take anywhere between a few minutes and approximately 30 minutes

Procedure

1) Back up your unit and all presets, ensure you have physical access to the unit in case a power cycle is required

2) download  the new software file to your computer.  The file will have a *.pkg filename extension and will have a filename similar to:

  • 1601-00583-001-x86-dolby-5300.1.0.272a

  • 1601-00582-001-x86-dolby-5291.1.0.229

  • 1601-00584-001-x86-dolby-UPMX.1.0.250

Note:  The way to identify which product your file is for is shown below:

                       Product name and version number highlighted in the software identification string.

2) Using a web browser (Chrome or Safari are recommended), connect to the unit.

3) Navigate to the System Menu

4) Under the “Software” section, click on the the “Upload” control for the inactive Software Bank, and upload the software file from your computer

5) once the new software file is successfully loaded, press the “Select” button for that Software Bank, and “Select” again in the popup menu to install the update

If the unit reboots and the UI automatically reconnects within a minute, the software is installed

If the UI does not automatically reconnect in approximately one minute, an FPGA update is being performed.   This process will take approximately 20 minutes.  Monitor the unit’s front panel display to track the progress of the FPGA update.  Once the FPGA is updated, you will be instructed to power cycle the unit.

6) It is recommended to power cycle the unit, perform a factory reset, and reset your routing and processing presets
