Q. What is the audio processing structure of Omnia XII?

A. Processing includes a Wideband AGG, five bands of multiband AGCs and compressors, followed by six bands of multiband limiting, along with a comprehensive suite of bass management tools and dynamic EQ. The FM output features Frank Foti’s brand-new “Clemenza” clipper, designed to provide competitive loudness without the intermodulation distortion that causes listener fatigue and tune-out.  The overall sound is warm, natural, and engaging: Omnia’s best yet.

Q: Does Omnia XII feature QuickTweak™ controls?

A: Yes. QuickTweak provides high-level control of the sound in a manageable and intuitive basic user interface, where single controls adjust multiple processing parameters in the background. A comprehensive advanced control level allows access to all of the individual controls expected in a flagship processor for creating a highly customized sound

Q. What physical audio I/O does Omnia XII have on its rear panel?

A. I/O includes the following:

  • One stereo analog input mirrored on both XLR and RJ45 jacks, and one stereo analog output on an RJ45 jack

  • Three AES/EBU inputs and outputs, with the first two mirrored on both XLR and RJ45 jacks, the third on RJ45 jacks only

  • MPX over AES (Omnia Direct) supporting digital composite output

  • Two analog composite MPX inputs and two analog composite MPX outputs on BNC connectors, one of which can be switched to output the 19kHz pilot for RDS sync

Q. Does Omnia XII have a relay bypass for the primary I/O?

A. Yes. AES 1 & 2, and Composite 1 I/O all support relay bypass, enabling re-routing of backup airchains and other flexible workflows

Q. What is the RU height of the Omnia XII chassis, and how is it cooled?

A. The 2RU chassis is fan-cooled.

Q. Does Omnia XII have redundant power supplies?

A. Yes, it features two internal redundant auto-ranging power supplies.

Q. How many network interfaces does Omnia XII have?

A. There are three 1GB network connections, supporting segmented networks for AoIP, admin, and SMPTE 2022-7 redundancy.

Q: How is Omnia XII accessed remotely?

A: Omnia XII offers remote browser-based HTML5 control, which means it is OS- and device-agnostic.

Q. Is onboard RDS included in the base Omnia XII?

A. Yes, comprehensive dynamic RDS with UECP is standard. An advanced RDS option supporting AF Method B, EON, LPS, eRT, RDS2, and other extended RDS features is coming soon.

Q. Does Omnia XII have a patch point for inserting rating encoders, EAS units, etc.?

A. Yes, it has one patch point between the output of the 6-Band limiter/bass clipper and the input to the final FM clipper.

Q. Does Omnia XII include processing for HD1, HD2, and HD3?

A. The first shipping release will include FM+HD1/DAB, with a shared processing path up to the final clipper (FM) and final limiter (HD). Independent processing for HD2 and HD3 is on the roadmap and will be available in a later software update.

Q. Does Omnia XII offer onboard streaming capability?

A. The initial release version does not offer separate streaming processing and encoding, but these features are roadmapped and will be optionally available in a later software update.

Q. What options are available now?

A.  Current options in the initial release include:

  • µMPX encoding, with one 2-output license and/or an additional 2-output license for up to four total streams

  • HLS+ streaming input with redundant streams, metadata routing to RDS, and up to 24-hours of backup playout audio

  • Nielsen, Fifty5Blue, or IPSOS audience measurement watermark encoding

Q. What options are on the roadmap for upcoming software releases?

A.  Future options include:

  • Independent processing paths for HD-2 and HD-3

  • Streaming processing and encoding

  • De-clipper

  • Advanced RDS

  • Support for FLAC, MP3, and other formats on the streaming receiver input

Q. Does Omnia XII include Digital MPX over AES3?

A. Yes, 192 kHz Digital MPX output can be configured on any of the AES out ports.

Q. Does Omnia XII include MPX over IP?

A. Yes, 192 kHz linear MPX over IP as an AES67 stream is standard. µMPX is optional.

Q. Does Omnia XII offer a stream receiver?

A. Yes, an optional stream receiver supporting HLS+ is available in the initial release, which includes metadata routing to RDS and up to 24 hours of backup playout. Support for incoming FLAC, MP3, and other format streams is on the roadmap and will be added in a subsequent release.

Q. What sort of metering and diagnostic tools does Omnia XII provide?

A. In addition to the expected input, output, and composite level meters, Omnia XII includes an ITU-R BS.1770 loudness meter, numeric readouts for modulation, and built-in diagnostic tools, including a digital oscilloscope, an FM spectrum analyzer, and a Dorrough loudness meter.

Q. What is the warranty for the Omnia XII?

A. Omnia XII comes with a standard 2-year factory warranty. Our optional TelosCare PLUS service agreement ensures access to firmware and software updates, provides 24/7 365 phone support, guaranteed support response time, remote assistance, license migration, priority repairs and loaner equipment, and other important benefits for the duration of the subscription. The optional TelosCare Extended Warranty takes over when the factory warranty ends and includes firmware and software updates, plus telephone support.
