Initial Network Setup

AERO.20 / AERO.200

AERO.20 and AERO.200 are "headless" products with no local front panel controls. They ship with DHCP enabled and will automatically retrieve an IP address when connected to a network with a DHCP server.

If a DHCP server is not available, the AERO unit can temporarily be directly connected to a Windows PC with an Ethernet cable, which prompts the AERO to display a "loopback" address of 169.254.x.x.

If DHCP is enabled on the PC, you can connect to the AERO using NfRemote and the displayed loopback address. If DHCP is disabled on the PC, you will need to enter an address in the same range as the AERO loopback address—typically one number higher—and set the subnet to 255.255.0.0 before connecting with NfRemote.

Note - If the front panel display shows an IP address of 127.0.0.1, there is no valid IP connection to the unit. An address of 169.x.x.x indicates that the unit is connected to a valid Ethernet port but cannot retrieve a DHCP address or a valid static IP address has not been established.

AERO.2400

Like AERO.20 and AERO.200, AERO.2400 also ships with DHCP enabled and will automatically retrieve an IP address when connected to a network with a DHCP server. The Windows PC on which the NfRemote client software will be installed (as outlined in the "Remote Connection via NfRemote Software" section below) should be connected to the same network and subnet as the AERO.

Because it has front panel controls, a static IP address and other network information can also be entered using the navigation cluster:

  • Press the left arrow repeatedly to navigate back to the main menu.

  • Press the up and down arrows to highlight “System”, then press the right arrow to select.

  • Within the “System” menu, press the up and down arrows to highlight “Network Access”, then press the right arrow to select.

  • Press the up and down arrows to highlight “IP Configuration”, then press the right arrow to select.

  • Press the up and down arrows to highlight “Use DHCP”, then press the right arrow to de-select (no checkmark).

  • Use the rotary encoder to select the numeric keyboard (“123”), then press the right arrow to select.

  • Use the rotary encoder to select each numeral and decimal point in the IP address, pressing the right arrow after each character is selected, just as you did when entering the password.

  • Once the address has been entered, use the rotary encoder to highlight “OK”, then press the right arrow to select.

  • Repeat this process for the Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS fields as applicable; you may also enter a “friendly” name for the unit in the “Location” field.

  • Once all entries are complete, press the up and down arrows to highlight “Apply”, then press the right arrow to select.

  • A warning message will appear asking if you are sure you want to make the change; click down through the message to highlight “Yes”, then press the right arrow to select.

  • Press the left arrow repeatedly to navigate back to the main menu.
